The Original Ground Jerky Gun by Weston
The Weston Jerky Gun is the original ground jerky tube. While there are more inexpensive jerky guns on the market, this is the one you want if you want to make a lot of ground meat jerky without hassle.
This model costs about $35, which is double the price of the smaller Nesco jerky gun, but has a much larger capacity and is built more solidly. Start with the cheaper one if you aren't sure you like ground jerky, but upgrade to the Weston when you realize you can't have enough. This one is truly built to last.
The large aluminium tube can hold 1.5 pounds of meat, so you don't need to worry about constant reloading if you have a large quantity of meat to dehydrate.
The Weston Original comes with 4 stainless steel nozzles. You get a 1/2 inch diameter nozzle for jerky sticks, a 1/8 x 3/4 inch for strips, a dual round 1/2 nozzle for making two sticks at a time, and a dual 1/8 x 3/4 incher for two strips. The plastic stomper and funnel make it easy to load a lot of ground beef (or turkey or chicken or any kind of meat) at once.
The only negative about this large gun is it takes slightly longer to clean because of its size. However, the extra minute or two spent cleaning is easily saved by not having to take it apart and reload. Holding 1.5 pounds of meat, it's unlikely you'll have to ever reload.
An Alternative Ground Jerky Kit
The Nesco Jerky Works Package is a smaller, less expensive starter kit if you have smaller amounts of meat to dehydrate or simply don't want to spend as much on the Weston Jerky Gun.
This jerky extruder is made of plastic and stainless steel. It holds a pound of meat, just a little less than the large Weston. You can see through this chamber, so you know how much meat is left.
It comes with various attachments and spices, so it's a decent alternative if you have a smaller budget. It costs just $15.
