Nuwave Oven Doubles as a Jerky Dehydrator
by Kerri
(Easton)
The NuWave Oven displays not only an incredible combination of conduction, convection and infra-red cooking power, but it also is incredibly versatile, masquerading as a food dehydrator.
My 18-year-old son is a definite carnivore and one of his favorite ways to enjoy meat is beef jerky. Unfortunately, jerky is quite expensive and the bag portions are minimal, but in this economy, it’s my NuWave to the rescue!
I simply take thin slices of any beef steak that is on sale, marinate it for a few hours in the refrigerator in a plastic bag with a bottle of Teriyaki sauce (he likes the Garlic Ginger) or just some soy sauce, sherry, garlic and ginger, and then put it in my Nu-Wave on the rack for one hour at 20% power. I turn the slices over half way through the cooking time, to ensure an even dehydration. This produces a fragrant, delicious jerky that it quite inexpensive (especially when you watch the sales!)
Clean up is a breeze, since the bottom pan is removable.
So, if you are in the market for a food dehydrator, think long and hard about purchasing a Nu-Wave Oven and getting so much more for your money!
