Garden Master Food Dehydrator FD-1010

This is my second food dehydrator. My first one was a much smaller version and I outgrew it. Originally I bought one because my husband hunts deer and we would make venison jerky, but we have expanded our dehydrating into other foods. We especially like to use it to dry fruits. We make our own trail mix with dried apricots, plums, pineapple and other fruits. I still buy raisins at the store because I don’t like the way they turn out in a dehydrator. The Nesco/American Harvest Garden Master Food Dehydrator is very easy to use. As long as we cut the pieces in uniform thicknesses, they come out very well. The only problem I have, is occasionally forgetting to rotate the trays, which can result in uneven drying. I have started setting reminders in my phone and that seems to work well for me. We have learned how to season meats with various herbs and spices, and have expanded into marinades. Preparing the foods in this manner will result in very concentrated flavors. We like to add the marinated, dried fruits to our fresh salad greens and vegetables for a very unique meal.
