Why the Excalibur Dehydrator 3526t Belongs in Your Kitchen
The 5-tray Excalibur Dehydrator 3526t and the 9-tray 3926t make up the top of the line food dehydrators in the Excalibur 3000 Series.
The Excalibur is the recommended dehydrator because they're designed differently. You'll notice the shape is a box, instead of the typical cylinder. That means you have more drying space because there isn't a big hole in the middle.
These have a fan that circulates the warm air, making sure all the foods are dried evenly. Since the air's moving, drying is done a lot faster too.
I think the black looks better, but they make a white one as an option. It's a extra $10 though, and the doors and trays come in black only. This would be my only gripe with them, but I prefer the black anyway.

If it's easy to use, it will be used
Here's a photo of the control panel. It's just two dials: easy to read, easy use.
The horizontal airflow system makes the process quick. Foods are done sooner, leaving you with more time to eat and do other things. And if you have something that's going to need a lot of time, the 26-hour timer is there for you.
The heating element and fan is set up in the back, so there's no dripping messes to fuss over. A big reason many appliances don't get used is they're hard to clean. That's true with me. The Excalibur's easy to clean, so you're going to keep using it.
These machines are built to last, and can run 24/7. With that kind of production, you don't need to worry about your fruits and vegetables spoiling anymore. Dehydrating prevents spoilage, so you won't waste any more food.
Consider that these machines are not "whisper-quiet." You will hear yours working. But don't worry, it's not so bad that you need to put on headphones. Remember that many people run these all day and night, so it's not that bad.
Get the big one
If you're going to get a food dehydrator, I recommend the Excalibur Dehydrator 3526t or 3926t. If you have a lot of food to dehydrate, obviously the 9-tray is the better choice. For a bachelor like me, the 5-tray is perfect. It takes up less space than the 9-tray, yet it's a huge improvement over the low-end 4-tray model.
They have a 30-day money back guarantee, so if you have the time, the 5-tray is still the best one to start with. If you find you need the larger size, you'll know way before the month is up. So, send it back and order the 9. I'm very satisfied with my 3526t, and I'm sure you'll like whichever Excalibur you choose.
